“How to Adjust Your Advocacy Strategy When the Government Fights Back or the Context Changes” was held on 16 April 2014 and featured Yogesh Kumar, executive director of Samarthan and Albert van Zyl, manager of Learning and Knowledge Development at IBP. Kumar and van Zyl discussed the key steps and considerations in planning and implementing an effective advocacy strategy, including reading the political landscape and documenting the impact of the tactics used along the way. Kumar and van Zyl drew on lessons from the IBP case study “Samarthan’s Campaign to Improve Access to the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in India.
