The International Budget Partnership hosted civil society organizations for a budget advocacy seminar in Hammamet and Tunis, Tunisia and Niamey, Niger. The attendees learned budget analysis and advocacy skills, and met with key government officials in charge of the budget.
Participants learned how budget analysis and advocacy can help advance the issues they work on, as well as understand the importance of budget transparency, participation and oversight.
AI Bawsala, GIFT – Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency, Media General Federation Union, Observatoire Tunisien de l’Economie, النقابة الأساسية لمعمل الكابل جندوبة UGTT Sebn-Tn, Forum Tunisien pour les Droits Economiques et Sociaux, I Watch, and Solidar, were among the civil society organizations represented.
Assad Khalil, Budget Director in the Ministry of Finance, and Khaled Sellami, Director General of the E-government unit and Open Government Partnership focal point in Tunisia, spoke at the workshop.
