JAMKESMAS and District Health Care Insurance Schemes: Assessment Reports from 8 Districts/Municipalities and 2 Provinces

In 2004, the Government of Indonesia established the first milestone toward universal coverage of social insurance as part of government’s obligation as mandated by the constitution to provide protection and welfare to all citizens. This report assesses the Jaminan Kesehatan Masyarakat/JAMKESMAS (Social Health Insurance) scheme, which targets the poor and near poor people.
