Strengthening Budget Transparency in the MENA Region

A Regional Note ‘Strengthening Budget Transparency in the MENA Region’ was prepared in collaboration by IMF-METAC, the International Budget Partnership (IBP), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The paper highlights that the public budget can be a potent tool to foster socioeconomic development and bolster governance in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Increased budget transparency can contribute to an effective management of public finances, improved allocation of resources, and higher trust in public institutions.
