Why are Some Countries So Poor? Another Look at the Evidence and a Message of Hope

This paper examines certain factors of capital and quality of life indicators. Although the output of capital is high in both wealthy and poor countries, the capital does not flow back to poor countries. The roles of physical and human capital are analyzed in this context, as well as the correlation between life expectancy and education. Available in English and French.
