Helping Indonesia’s small fisherfolk get subsidized fuel

Fishing, especially small-scale fisherfolk, are the backbone of Indonesia’s economy. Which is why the government created the KUSUKA program to provide fuel subsidies to these fisherfolk, who usually live far from fueling stations and are often beaten to available fuel by larger, modern boats. International Budget Partnership, along with partner KNTI (Indonesia’s small fisherfolk union) collected data and helped fishermen like Suyadi and others to get their KUSUKA cards so they can access the fuel. We continue to partner to collect data and advance more reforms for Indonesia’s small fisherfolk.
